Linda Morais and Jake Renning of the wrestling team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 27.
Morais, a third-year athlete, won the 63 kilos weight class at the annual Concordia Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Sunday. The defending CIS champion helped Concordia earn 30 points and finish sixth out of 20 teams at the competition.
A 20-year-old resident of Tecumseh, Ont., Morais is currently enrolled in the Exercise Science program at Concordia.
Renning, a first-year Stinger competitor, won the 57 kilos category at the Concordia Invitational Wrestling Tournament on Sunday. He was the only gold medallist for Concordia on the men’s side of the competition. His victory also contributed to Concordia’s sixth-place finish.
The 20-year-old student from Enosburg Fall, Vermont, is enrolled in the History program at Concordia.
