Anne-Julie Deschenes of the women’s hockey team and Joey Fulginiti of the men’s rugby team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 10.
Deschenes, a first-year left wing, scored the Stingers’ lone goal in a hard-fought 4-1 loss to the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Sunday. The tenacious forward opened the scoring in the first period, giving Concordia the early momentum.
A 20-year-old native of Mont Joli, Que., Deschenes is currently enrolled in the Business Adminstration program at Concordia.
Fulginiti, a third-year flyhalf, scored 11 of Concordia’s 18 points in 38-18 loss to the Bishop’s Gaiters on the last day of the regular season. He scored one try and connected on two penalty goals. As the team captain he insisted on playing and providng leadership despite the fact that head coach Clive Gibson wanted to rest him for the playoffs.
The 22-year-old student from Montreal studies in the Finance program at Concordia.
