Barrett, Lovatsis - PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Kaylah Barrett of the women’s basketball team and George Lovatsis of the men’s hockey team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 12.

Barrett, a guard who is in her fourth year of eligibility, was the top performer in back-to-back games versus the UQAM Citadins on the weekend. In a 67-54 victory on Friday, she scored 12 points and added four assists and five steals. The following night she scored 19 points and had another five steals in a difficult 57-43 loss.

A 22-year-old native of Brampton, Ont., Barrett is currently enrolled in the Urban Studies program at Concordia. 

Lovatsis, a fifth-year centre, was exceptional in two victories last week. He picked up a goal and an assist in Concordia’s 5-1 win over the Laurentian Voyageurs on Friday night. On Saturday afternoon, he collected a goal and two assists to help the Stingers defeat the Nipissing Lakers 5-2. The goal against Nipissing was the 50th of his career in OUA regular season play.

The 24-year-old student from Markham, Ont. studies in the Leisure Sciences program at Concordia.
