Meilleur, Post - PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Gabrielle Meilleur of the women’s hockey team and Mukiya Post of the men’s basketball team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 16.

Meilleur, a fourth-year defender, had one of the best games of her career last Friday. The Stingers lost 3-0 to the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the last RSEQ regular season game of 2014, but Meilleur had a stellar performance and was instrumental in helping to hold the Gee-Gees to 21 shots. She has been playing exceptional defence down the stretch. Meilleur graduates this spring.

A 23-year-old native of Montreal, she is currently completing a Specialization in Psychology at Concordia.

Post, a fourth-year forward, was exceptional in two victories last week. On Thursday, he scored 33 points and added seven rebounds in an 88-87 victory over the UQAM Citadins and two days later he collected a career-high 40 points and hauled in 11 rebounds in a 77-73 win over the Laval Rouge et Or. In the two games, he made 14 of 15 free throws (93.3 %) and seven of 11 three-pointers (63.6 %). The wins helped Concordia improve its win-loss record to 8-6 and put the Stingers in second place, tied with the Bishop’s Gaiters.

The 22-year-old student from Victoria, B.C. studies History at Concordia.
