Erica Cadieux memorial game

The Concordia Stingers and the McGill Martlets will play the inaugural Erica Cadieux memorial game on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Concordia Stadium.

The game will be symbolic of women's university soccer supremacy between the two universities and pay tribute to Cadieux, who died tragically when she was struck by a car last January. The long-time West Island resident is survived by her husband and two young girls.

Cadieux was a mid-fielder/defender with the Stingers women's soccer team 1992-'94. Rhonda Baptiste a former teammate and one of the event organizers describes Cadieux as "an exceptional human being who was filled with Stinger pride."

A moment of silence will be observed before the game. Afterwards members of Cadieux's family will present the trophy that bears her name to the captains of the winning team.

There is no charge to attend the game. However, donations of cash and teddy bears for the Montreal Children's Hospital would be appreciated.

Concordia's women's soccer alumni has rallied around the game. They will play an alumni game at 11 a.m. and gather for a social with the current players afterwards. Alumni who would like to get in touch can email wsalumni@alcor.concordia.ca.
