Rookie defenceman Jesse Goodsell scored a power play goal at 5:04 of overtime to give the Concordia Stingers a 6-5 victory over the No. 9 ranked McGill Redmen at Concordia's Ed Meagher Arena on Friday night.
The win evens the best-of-three OUA quarterfinal series at one game each.
McGill staked out leads of 4-1 and 5-2 but struggled in the third period when Concordia picked it up a notch. The Stingers came up with 19 shots and three unanswered goals to tie the game and force overtime.
Goal scorers for McGill were Marko Kovacevic, Shawn Shewchuk, Louis-Simon Allaire, Ben Martin and Eric L'Italien. Concordia's snipers were Mike Halitzki with two, Brett Beauchamp, Jason Beliveau, Brad Gager and Goodsell.
The goaltenders were Mathieu Poitras, who turned away 36 of 42 shots for McGill, and Patrick Lepage who faced 31 shots.
Game 3 will be played at McGill on Sunday at 7 p.m.
