Defenceman Jesse Goodsell of the Concordia Stingers men’s hockey team was named to the CIS all-rookie team announced at the annual awards banquet in Moncton yesterday.
The six-foot-three, 210-pound native of Ayer’s Cliff, Que. was a force to reckon with his first season. He played a physical game and used a booming shot from the point to establish himself in university hockey.
In 24 Ontario conference games, he scored six goals and added 15 assists for 21 points. Four of his goals came on the power play.
Goodsell played two seasons in the QMJHL with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens and two years in the QJAAA with the Champlain College Cougars before joining the Stingers. With the Cougars in 2006, he was an all-star and the outstanding defenceman in the league.
