Trevor Blanchard, the captain of the 2007-’08 Concordia Stingers, has signed a professional contract with the Victoria Salmon Kings of the East Coast Hockey League.
Blanchard, a left wing from Sudbury, Ont., left Montreal last week. He suited up for a couple of games with his new team in Victoria on the weekend. The Salmon Kings split a series with the Las Vegas Wranglers.
“I’ve played two games so far and no points yet,” reports Blanchard from the West Coast. “I’ve only played a few shifts a period to get used to it. I played a lot better in the second game than in my first game.”
The Salmon Kings – proud affiliates of the Vancouver Canucks and the Manitoba Moose – head off to Anchorage for a three-game series with the Alaska Aces.
Blanchard wrapped up his three-year career as the leading scoring on the Stingers. He collected 13 goals and 26 assists for 39 points in 28 games.
