Concordia hosts Swedish junior hockey team

 

The Concordia University Department of Recreation and Athletics is pleased to announce it will serve as official host to the Swedish Junior National Men’s Hockey Team as it comes to Canada for a week-long training session in preparation for the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Regina and Saskatoon.

Team Sweden arrives in Montreal on Monday, Nov. 2 and will use Concordia University and the Ed Meagher Arena as home base for a week.

While in Canada, the Europeans will play three exhibition games. They will face off against the Concordia Stingers on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ed Meagher Arena, 7200 Sherbrooke St. W. The Swedes will also travel to Ottawa to play the Carleton Ravens on Nov. 3 and to Trois-Rivières to play the UQTR Patriotes on Nov. 4.

The Swedish team features several top professional prospects and NHL draft picks, including six first round picks from the 2009 draft.
