The 1973-'74 Loyola Tommies women's hockey team captured the Quebec University Athletic Association (QUAA) championship with a 4-1 victory over McGill. The team posted a perfect 6-0 win-loss record in the conference regular season and outscored its opponents 66-0. Marjorie Ross was the leading scorer in the league with nine goals and 11 assists in the six games.The Tommies won the seventh annual Loyola Invitational Women's Hockey Tournament with an 11-0 victory over Brown University and an 8-1 win over York University. It marked the first time Loyola had won its own tournament. A Loyola News reporter remarked that the Tommies' outstanding play that weekend ranked, "as the greatest single moment in women's sports at Loyola." The accomplished team wrapped up its impressive campaign by winning the championship trophy at the Brown tournament. Despite having to play two games in one day, the Tommies defeated Cornell University 7-1 and Colby College 8-1.Overall Loyola posted a 19-6 record which included play in the Montreal Hockey League. The impressive record and the play of goaltender Janet Norman captured the attention of Sports Illustrated. The respected publication wrote of the team record and Norman's nine shutouts in its popular Faces in the Crowd feature on March 11, 1974.
