In a program with a tradition for developing exceptional linemen, Paul Vajda was one of the Concordia Stingers' most talented and accomplished offensive guards. During his career from 1987 to 1990, he was a textbook guard who possessed speed, toughness, size and great technique. In 1988, he was named the outstanding lineman in the Ontario-Quebec Interuniversity Football Conference and was a nominee for the J.P. Metras Trophy, presented annually to the best lineman in Canadian university football. He earned CIAU All-Canadian honors in 1988 and 1990 and was an O-QIFC all-star in 1988 and 1990. In his senior year, he represented Concordia and the CIAU in the prestigious East-West Shrine Bowl in Palo Alto, California. He was selected fifth overall in the 1991 Canadian Football League draft and went on to a distinguished professional career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders from 1991 to 1996.
