Intronisé en 2006 en tant qu'athlète

Établissement : Loyola

Through the early and mid-1920s, Warren Joseph "Monty" Montabone was unquestionably the top track athlete at Loyola. He competed extramurally for Loyola with great success in the hurdles and 880-yard run. He dominated several Loyola Field Day events between 1923 and 1926, taking honours in the broad jump, the 880-yard run, the 120-yard hurdles and the mile run.

Monty went on to represent Canada in 110-metre hurdles at both the 1924 and 1928 Summer Olympics. He was also successful at hurdles and the mile run wearing MAAA (Montreal Amateur Athletic Association) colours. In 1927 he set a Canadian record in the 110-metre hurdle event - a record that stood for an astounding 59 years. He also held the Canadian record in 440-yard hurdles between 1928 and 1953. Montabone continued to be involved in and encourage amateur sport until he died in 1999, survived by three children.
