Pat Perrotte named 1st team all-Canadian

Patrick Perrotte, a fifth-year power forward with the Concordia Stingers, was named a CIS first team all-Canadian when the men's university basketball major awards and honor rolls were unveiled yesterday.

It is the third consecutive national honor for Perrotte, who was a second team all-Canadian in 2006 and an honorable mention all-Canadian in 2005. The Verdun, Que. native is also a five-time Quebec conference all-star.

The team captain averaged 18.1 points a game in 16 Quebec conference contests, helping the Stingers post a 15-1 win-loss record and reach the No. 1 ranking in the country.

"Pat will be missed by everyone in our program,” said head coach John Dore of his graduating senior. “First, he is a gentleman on and off the court. He’s an exceptional leader with a tremendous work ethic. Pat plays tough and with a lot of passion. His love of the game shines through.”

Perrotte was a two-time Concordia athlete of the week and Quebec athlete of the week on Nov. 28. He was also MVP at the Wilfrid Laurier tournament and an all-star at the Concordia-Nike tournament.

The Leisure Sciences student will graduate this year.
