All-star Damian Buckley scored 30 points to lead the Concordia Stingers to an 80-77 victory over the UQAM Citadins in the QSSF semifinals held at Concordia gym in Montreal on Friday night.
Buckley, a third-year point guard, also had five rebounds and six assists. He played 38 minutes.
Stepping up in a big way was fourth-year centre Jamal Gallier. The big man scored 18 points and hauled in 10 rebounds.
The leading scorer for UQAM was Mario Joseph 16 points.
While the teams both shot well - Concordia 46.9 per cent and UQAM 46.6 per cent - the Stingers out rebounded UQAM 37-21.
The Stingers advance to the conference championship next week. They await the winner of the Laval-McGill semifinal on Sunday.
