Coach Dore lands TV gig

John Dore, head coach of the Concordia Stingers men’s basketball team, will provide color commentary for the third annual MBNA Capital Hoops Classic airing on The Score tomorrow night.

The event features the Carleton Ravens and the Ottawa Gee-Gees. The women’s teams will play at 6 p.m. The men’s teams will tip off at 8 p.m. On the men’s side, the game is about more than just bragging rights in Ottawa. Both teams have 13-1 win-loss records, and Carleton and Ottawa are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the CIS, respectively.

In addition to the nationally televised broadcast, the game is expected to draw more than 10,000 fans at Scotiabank Place.

“I’m honored to be asked to do the broadcast,” says Dore. “Personally, it’s a real treat to have an opportunity to expand my horizons.”

Dore has some broadcast experience, having worked as an analyst with The Score and SSN at the CIS national championship tournament in Ottawa last March.

Jason Thom will take care of the play-by-play. Cabral "Cabbie" Richards will take care of the sidelines and the crowd.
