Perrotte earns all-Canadian honors

Patrick Perrotte, a fourth-year forward with the Concordia Stingers, was named a CIS second team all-Canadian when the men's university basketball major awards and honor rolls were unveiled yesterday.

The team captain averaged 15.1 points a game in 16 Quebec conference contests, helping the Stingers post a 14-2 win-loss record and reach the No. 6 ranking in the country.

"Pat is often playing guys six inches taller than him and 30 to 50 pounds heavier and containing them and stopping them," says head coach John Dore of his six-foot-one player. "This season he has made tremendous improvements defensively. He plays with great intensity and has the heart of a lion."

Perrotte was a four-time Concordia athlete of the week. He was also MVP at the Concordia-Nike basketball tournament and an all-star at the Saskatchewan and Rod Shoveller tournaments.

The Verdun, Que. native is a four-time Quebec conference all-star and in 2005 he was an honorable mention all-Canadian as well as being named to the all-star team at the national championship.

The Leisure Sciences student is expected to return to the Stingers for his fifth year in the fall.
