Coming off the bench Frank Foila scored 16 points to lead the Concordia Stingers to a 79-75 victory over the Laurentian Voyageurs in opening round action of the 46th annual Concordia-Nike Men’s Basketball Tournament on Friday night.
The second-year guard from Montreal played just 20 minutes but was the top scorer on the Stingers. He made all four of his three-point attempts and was six of 11 overall.
Fifth-year guard Decee Krah scored 14 points and hauled in 15 rebounds. Kyle Desmarais the 2011 second team all-Canadian guard, also chipped in with 14 points.
The leading scorer in the game was Laurentian’s Emanuel Pasquale who had 27 points, including six three-pointers.
In the late game, the UQAM Citadins defeated the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks 81-80.
The tournament continues on Saturday when the Stingers host the Golden Hawks at 5 p.m. UQAM takes on Laurentian at 7 p.m.
