The Concordia Stingers will be seeded third at the 2012 CIS Men’s Basketball Final 8 Tournament in Halifax, beginning this Friday.
The Stingers will meet the No. 6-seeded St. Francis Xavier X-Men in the opening round. The game is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. (AST) at the Halifax Metro Centre.
After finishing in first place with a 16-4 win-loss record in the Atlantic University Sport conference, the X-Men lost 82-71 to the Acadia Axemen in the championship game.
Concordia and St. FX met once this season on Dec. 31 at the annual Rod Shoveller tournament in Halifax. The X-Men won 94-78. Top performers in the game for the Stingers were guard Kyle Desmarais with 21 points and forward Evens Laroche with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Concordia finished in first place in the Quebec conference with a 14-2 record. The Stingers defeated the UQAM Citadins 77-47 in the RSEQ championship on Saturday night.
