Men's basketball eliminated in semifinal game

The Concordia Stingers men’s basketball season came to an end with a 70-63 semifinal loss to the Bishop’s Gaiters in Lennoxville, Que. last night.

It was a see-saw battle that saw Bishop’s hold a 37-33 lead at halftime and a 49-48 edge after three quarters. But the Gaiters pulled away in the final 10 minutes, outscoring the Stingers 21-15.

Concordia all-star Kyle Desmarais led all scorers in the game with 21 points. Stingers Jerome Blake and Morgan Tajfel chipped in with 11 points each.

Jonathan Bermillo and Mike Andrews led the Bishop’s offence with 14 points each.

The Gaiters advance to the RSEQ championship on Saturday evening. They face the first-place McGill Redmen in Montreal.

This is the first time since 2010 that the Stingers have not won the conference title and represented Quebec at the national championship.
