Sherrard, Beaulieu - PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Alyssa Sherrard of the women’s hockey team and Ken Beaulieu of the men’s basketball team have been named PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 1.

Sherrard, a fifth-year forward, was exceptional in a 3-1 victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees last Friday. She scored two goals in the game, including the winner at 12:14 of the third period. The victory was big for the third-place Stingers who now have a five-point lead in the standings over the Gee-Gees heading into the last couple of weeks of the regular season.

A 22-year-old native of Bathurst, N.B., Sherrard is a Human Relations student at Concordia.

Beaulieu, a first-year forward, was impressive in a pair of games in RSEQ basketball action last week. He had eight points and two rebounds in a tough 79-77 loss to the Laval Rouge et Or last Thursday. In the rematch two days later, he recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. His efforts helped the Stingers win 79-71.

The 21-year-old student from Longueuil, Que., he is studying in the Faculty of Arts.
