Cassiel Lalande of the women’s hockey team and Mukiya Post of the men’s basketball team have been named PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 22.
Lalande, a rookie centre, played well in two victories last week. She contributed to her team’s 5-1 victory over the Carleton Ravens last Friday, but she was exceptional in a 4-3 shootout victory over the No. 2-ranked Montréal Carabins on Sunday. She notched the Stingers’ first goal of the game and she was the only player to score in the shootout, giving Concordia the win.
A 20-year-old native of St. Jérôme, Que., Lalande is a Psychology student at Concordia.
Post, a fifth-year guard, had a couple of strong performances in two games last week. In a 76-62 loss to the Laval Rouge et Or last Wednesday, Post was the Stingers’ leading scorer with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Last Saturday he was top scorer again with 22 points and nine rebounds which helped Concordia secure a 69-61 victory over the first-place McGill Redmen.
A 23-year-old student from Victoria, B.C., Post is majoring in History.
