Stingers 2015 football schedule unveiled

Mickey Donovan, the 2014 RSEQ Coach of the Year, will begin his second season in charge of the Concordia Stingers football team with a night game at home to the Sherbrooke Vert & Or.

The Stingers kickoff their eight-game RSEQ schedule on Friday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. at Concordia Stadium. It will be a hotly contested showdown as the Stingers and Vert & Or have developed a strong rivalry after several intense meetings recently.

Concordia will meet Sherbrooke and the Laval Rouge et Or just once this season. The Stingers will play the McGill Redmen, the Bishop's Gaiters and the Vanier Cup champion Montréal Carabins twice each.

Concordia will not be involved in the Atlantic conference crossover contests Sept. 26. Instead the Stingers will host their Homecoming game versus Montréal, a game that will be televised by TVA Sports.

The Stingers will have three of their games covered live by TVA Sports, the RSEQ's new broadcast partner. The games at Laval on Oct. 4 and at McGill on Oct. 24 will also be televised. TVA Sports has one more game to add to its 11-game package, but will decide which game it will air on Oct. 31 at a later date.

Also of note, with the exception of the Home Opener on the evening of Sept. 4, all Concordia home games will kickoff at 2 p.m.A non-conference game at Concordia stadium in August will be announced shortly.
