B.C. soccer players commit to women's program

Head coach Jorge Sanchez is pleased to announce two quality soccer players from British Columbia will join the Concordia Stingers women’s soccer program for the 2015 season.

Defender Sarah Ng of Vancouver has a long, impressive soccer résumé. She was the captain at Eric Humber High School and she was the team MVP in 2013 and 2014.

As a member of the Royal City Soccer Club (New Westminster, B.C.), she won the Metro Women’s Soccer League U21 season and district cup championship. As well, Royal City was a finalist in the provincial championships this past spring. With her club in 2012, Ng won a U15 provincial title.

She has also participated in the highly competitive Pacific Coast Soccer League since 2013 with the Fraser Valley Action and Ng has trained with the prestigious TSS soccer academy which has helped develop many successful CIS soccer players.

"Sarah is an accomplished player who has trained and competed against CIS quality competition from a young age,” said Sanchez. “She will add great depth to our back line. She brings a strong soccer IQ and the potential to develop into a solid CIS player."

Midfielder Emma Berwick of Langley, B.C. is a transfer student from Quest University in Squamish, B.C. where she competed for one season after graduating from the Langley Fundamental Secondary School. In 2014 she was a consistent starter with the Quest Kermodes in the Pacific Western Athletic Association.

She represented the Langley Girls Soccer Association before transferring to Royal City Soccer Cub in her final year of youth competition. Berwick also played with the Fraser Valley Action and trained at TSS.

"With her year at Quest, Emma could be a CIS ready player who will add to our attacking options,” Sanchez said. “She brings with her the willingness to run at defenders as well as the ability to distribute from the midfield."
