Katherine Purchase of the women’s hockey team and Ken Beaulieu of the men’s basketball team have been named Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 15.
Purchase, a second-year goaltender, was exceptional in her team’s 1-0 victory over the CIS No. 1-ranked Montréal Carabins last Friday. She turned away 27 shots to earn the shutout.
A 19-year-old native of Halifax, Purchase is an Accounting student at Concordia.
Beaulieu, a second-year forward, was the top performer in Concordia’s 66-62 victory over the Laval Rouge et Or in Quebec City last Friday. He scored 15 points and hauled in 11 rebounds. His efforts helped the Stingers stay on top of the RSEQ standings with a perfect 2-0 win-loss record.
The 22-year-old student from Longueuil, Que. is studying in the Faculty of Arts.
