Olivier Hinse named alternate captain of CIS all-stars

The CIS men’s hockey all-star team has named four captains for its two-game series versus Team Canada’s junior prospects, including Concordia Stinger centre Olivier Hinse.

Hinse, who has been Concordia’s captain since 2014, will be an alternate captain along with Colin Behenna of the Waterloo Warriors and Stephen MacAulay of the Saint Mary’s Huskies. Kruise Reddick of the Alberta Bears is the captain.

“We are extremely fortunate to have such an experienced leadership group within our team,” said Team CIS head coach Shawn Camp from the University of Guelph. “With Kruise as our captain and Olivier, Colin and Stephen as our assistants we have selfless leaders who make everyone around them better players and better people.”

The two-game series takes place at the MasterCard Centre in Toronto on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at noon. Both contests will be streamed live on CIS-SIC.tv.

The games are part of the Canada’s junior hockey team’s preparation for the 40th IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Finland Dec. 26-Jan. 5.

The CIS lineup is made up of 23 players from university teams, including five from Quebec schools. Joining Hinse are McGill University’s Samual Labrecque and Liam Heelis as well as Martin Lefebvre and Guillaume Asselin from the UQTR Patriotes’ program.
