Men's hockey pleased to welcome Matthieu Desautels

The Concordia men’s hockey program is pleased to announce Matthieu Desautels, a talented offensive defenceman, has committed to the Stingers.

The Alexandria, Ont. native played the last two seasons with the Baie Comeau Drakkar of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He played 127 games picking up 14 goals and 58 assists for 72 points.

“He will be a key player on the power play,” said interim head coach Marc-André Élement. “He sees the ice well and is a good skater. He’s very mobile. He will definitely give us an edge offensively.”

Desautels, who checks in at five foot 10 and 187 pounds, played in the Central Canada Hockey League in 2013-14 with the Gloucester Rangers and the Ottawa Jr. Senators. He also played for the Ottawa 67s in the Ontario Hockey League in 2012-13.

Élement is impressed with Desautels’ character and commitment to academics. Coach is happy to welcome him to the Stingers family.
