Stingers add top goal scorer Anthony Deluca

Head coach Marc-André Élement is pleased to announce high-scoring left wing Anthony Deluca has committed to the Concordia Stingers men’s hockey team.

“He’s a natural goal scorer,” said Élement of his new addition. “He has a real flair around the net. He has an amazing shot, a pro shot. We haven’t had someone at Concordia with his pure goal-scoring skills, his nose for the net, in awhile.”

The Mirabel, Que. resident had an impressive midget AAA career with the St. Eustache Vikings and the Lac. St. Louis Lions where he scored 48 goals and added 32 assists for 80 points in 43 games. That season, 2011-12, he also played for the Quebec entry in the World U-17 Hockey Challenge, picking up three goals in five games.

Deluca went on to spend three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Rimouski Océanic. In the junior ranks, he played 202 career games picking up 101 goals and 108 assists for 209 points. Rimouski won the QMJHL championship in 2015.In 2013-14 and 2014-15, Deluca played for the QMJHL all-stars in the Junior Super Series featuring regional teams of Canadian Hockey League all-stars competing against the Russian National Junior Team.

Deluca spent last season in the East Coast Hockey League splitting time between the Wichita Thunder and the Alaska Aces.

Now the five-foot-eight, 205-pound forward brings his scoring touch to Concordia.

“I’m a very competitive guy,” he said. “I’m very hard on myself and I love to win. When I had to decide where to play, I just felt really comfortable with Marc-André (Stinger coach). I have a lot of confidence in him and he has a lot of confidence in me.”
