Goalie Philippe Cadorette to pad credentials with Stingers

Head coach Marc-André Élement is pleased to announce Philippe Cadorette, a record-setting goaltender in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, will join the Concordia Stingers hockey team this September.

In five seasons with the Baie Comeau Drakkar and the Shawinigan Cataractes, Cadorette set 13 QMJHL records in the regular season and playoffs. He also owns an incredible 107 franchise records at the junior level.

“He’s a great addition to our program,” said Élement. “He’s someone who has had great success everywhere he went and I’m looking forward to having him bring his talent to the university level.”

A couple of the more impressive records include: most shutouts in a season (7) and most shutouts in a career (17).

Overall, Cadorette played 209 QMJHL games for 123 wins and a 2.80 goals-against average. His great success brought many awards, including two QMJHL all-star honours.

Cadorette attracted a lot of attention from the NHL scouts and was invited to development/rookie camps by the Montreal Canadiens and Edmonton Oilers in 2013 and training camp by the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2015.

The Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Que. native checks in at five foot 11, 185 pounds. He plans to pursue his studies in Early Childhood Education.
