Jenna Thompson of the women’s rugby team and Karl Gouabe of the men’s soccer team have been named Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 11.
Thompson, a third-year No. 8, was the game MVP in a 45-26 loss to the Laval Rouge et Or last Monday. Three days later she picked up the same honour in an 85-0 win over the Sherbrooke Vert & Or. She scored four tries in the two games including three in the Sherbrooke match.
A 21-year-old native of Ste. Anne de Bellevue, Que., Thompson is a Civil Engineering student at Concordia.
Gouabe, a rookie goalkeeper, was named the MVP in Concordia’s 2-1 win over the Montreal Carabins last Friday. He turned away 10 of 11 shots to help the Stingers claim the victory.
The 23-year-old student from Yaoundé, Cameroon, is working on a degree in Communications.
