Dufour, Concordia wrestlers to host tournament Sunday

Wrestler Jade Dufour, the 2016 junior world bronze medallist at 48 kilos, will lead the Stingers at their annual wrestling tournament on Sunday at the Concordia gym.

Dufour was the only Canadian wrestler to earn a medal at the junior championships held the first week of September in Mâcon, France. There were 20 competitors in her weight class.

The Exercise Science student from Belle River, Ont. is now in her second year with the Stingers. She will be one of the key competitors at the tournament that will feature about 120 of Canada’s top young wrestlers.

Several universities are sending teams including: Brock, Toronto, McMaster, Guelph, University of New Brunswick, Alberta and York.

Concordia wrestlers participating include Dufour and Genevieve Lamarche in the women’s competition.

For the men, Dimitri Gershanov, Vince de Marinis, Kyle Price, Francis Carter and Frederick Choquette are representing the Stingers.

The action starts at 8:30 a.m. and finals will take place mid-afternoon on Sunday. Concordia gym is located at 7200 Sherbrooke St. W.
