Head coach Graeme McGravie and the Concordia Stingers women’s rugby team will make their 10th straight appearance in the RSEQ championship game when they travel to Ottawa to face the Gee-Gees this Friday at 7 p.m.
On Sept. 25, in the only meeting between the teams this year, Ottawa defeated Concordia 20-17.
The Stingers have a 4-5 win-loss record in the conference championships. They met the Gee-Gees in the last two finals, losing both by tight scores. In 2014 Ottawa won 25-17 and in 2015 it was a 13-5 victory.
This season Concordia finished in third place in the RSEQ with a 5-2 record. In the conference semifinals, the Stingers beat the second-place Laval Rouge et Or 31-24 last Saturday to advance to the final. Laval posted a 6-1 record in the regular season.
The win gives Concordia a berth in the U Sports national championship tournament in Victoria Nov. 3-6. Both the Stingers and the Gee-Gees have earned a trip to nationals.
