Alyssa Ruscio named to soccer all-star team

Concordia captain Alyssa Ruscio was the only Stinger to receive recognition when the RSEQ announced its all-star teams and major awards yesterday.

The fourth-year defender from Montreal was named to the second all-star team.

“Alyssa has been an uncontested starter on the back line since she arrived with team,” said Stingers head coach Jorge Sanchez. “She is a solid, hard-working defender with the ability to quickly transition into an offensive role.

“She has been a core member of the team and the captain the last two years. She competed hard in every game.”

Ruscio, an Accounting major, was named the Stingers’ game MVP seven times in 14 games. It’s a distinction selected by the opposing team’s head coach.
