Stephanie Lalancette of the women’s hockey team and Anthony Beauregard of the men’s hockey team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 15.
Lalancette, a first-year forward, was exceptional in two games versus the No. 6-ranked Montréal Carabins last week. She scored the winning goal at 4:21 of the overtime period to give the Stingers a 4-3 victory last Friday. She also had an assist on the game-tying goal late in the third period. On Sunday, in a tough 4-2 loss to the Carabins, she picked up another assist.
A 20-year-old native of St. Félicien, Que., Lalancette is studying Leisure Sciences at Concordia.
Beauregard, also a rookie forward, picked up two goals and two assists for four points. He scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-3 OT loss to the Waterloo Warriors last Friday. The following day, he picked up another goal and assist in a 2-0 win over the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks.
The 21-year-old athlete from St. Damase, Que. is an Independent Studies student.
