Richelle Gregoire of the women’s basketball team and Alexandre Gosselin of the men’s hockey team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 12.
Gregoire, a fifth-year guard, was exceptional in an important 79-63 victory over the UQAM Citadins last Friday. She picked 25 points to lead all scorers in the game. She also had six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Currently, she leads the RSEQ in scoring with an average of 17.4 points a game.
A 25-year-old native of Ste. Therese, Que., Gregoire is working on a certificate in Adult Education.
Gosselin, a first-year defenceman, was instrumental in helping the Stingers defeat the Queen’s Gaels 6-3 in the last game of the regular season. The win clinched second place in the OUA East. Head coach Marc-André Élement praised Gosselin for his work in shutting down Queen’s top line and for logging a lot of minutes in the game last Friday.
The 21-year-old athlete from St. Georges, Que. is in Independent Studies at Concordia.
