Jade Dufour of the women’s wrestling team and Vince De Marinis of the men’s wrestling team have been named the Subway-Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 19.
Dufour, a third-year student-athlete with the Stingers, defeated two opponents to earn a gold medal in the 55-kilo draw at the York University open wrestling tournament last Saturday. Her efforts were instrumental in securing third place in the women’s university competition.
A 20-year-old native of Windsor, Ont., Dufour is studying Exercise Science at Concordia.
De Marinis, a fifth-year senior with the Stingers, won three matches to claim a gold medal in the 68-kilo competition at the York wrestling tournament last Saturday. His performance helped the Concordia men’s team finish second in the varsity rankings.
The 24-year-old student from Pierrefonds, Que., is studying Finance at Concordia.
