50 points: New milestone for Stinger Beauregard

Second-year forward Anthony Beauregard collected a goal and two assists in the Concordia Stingers men’s hockey game versus the UQTR Patriotes last Wednesday bringing his season total to 50 points in 21 games.

The St. Damase, Que. native has 16 goals and 34 assists so far this season. He is the leading scorer in the OUA conference and in U SPORTS. The second-leading scorer in the nation is Acadia University’s Stephen Harper who has 12 goals and 29 assists for 41 points in 23 games.

The last time a member of the Concordia men’s hockey team scored 50 points was during the 1989-90 season. Forward Mark Mahon picked up 14 goals and 50 assists for 64 points in a 26-game season. That year, he set a national record for assists and was the OUA MVP.

Beauregard, who comes to the Stingers after a distinguished career in the Quebec junior ranks with the Val d'Or Foreurs, has seven games left to challenge the all-time Stinger record holders.

Beauregard and the Stingers are on the road for the next three games before returning home to host the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m.
