Stingers raise more than $2000 at Shoot for the Cure

The Concordia Stingers are pleased to announce the annual Shoot for the Cure fundraising event on Feb. 9-10 raised $2200 for the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.

The efforts were spearheaded by the Stingers women’s hockey team who sold T-shirts, cupcakes, candy, ribbons and raffle tickets. Donations were also collected.

The Stingers would like to thank their crosstown rivals for helping to make the event a success. The McGill Redmen and Martlets were the visitors for four of the five games on the weekend. The Martlets hockey team donated $200 to support the cause.

Finally, Concordia was honoured to have Collette Cyr and Kelli McLellan join the teams for a ceremonial faceoff at the women’s hockey game on Feb. 10.

Collette is the mother of Stinger defender Brigitte Laganière and she is a breast cancer survivor. Kelli is the mother of McGill’s Olivia Atkinson and she is currently fighting cancer. We were inspired by their courage and spirit.
