Four Stinger hockey players earn RSEQ honours

Four members of the Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team were honorees when the RSEQ announced its all-stars and major award winners on Thursday.

Lidia Fillion was named the Quebec conference Rookie of the Year. In 19 games, the forward from Sherbrooke, Que. scored 10 goals and added seven assists for 17 points. She ranked fifth overall in RSEQ scoring and was the top rookie scorer in the conference. She also earns a spot on the league’s all-rookie team.

Marie-Joëlle Allard, a fifth-year defender from Victoriaville, Que., was named to the first all-star team. In 18 games this season she collected 10 assists.

The Stingers’ captain has earned several RSEQ honours over the course of her career. She was also a first team all-star in 2015 and she was on the second team in 2017. Allard was named to the all-rookie team in 2014.

Third-year forward Claudia Dubois of Saguenay, Que. was named a second team all-star. She finished third in conference scoring with seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 20 games. She was also on the second all-star team in 2017.

St. Hyacinthe, Que. native Audrey Belzile was also a second team all-star. She finished fourth in league scoring with 11 goals and seven assists for 18 points in 20 games. Her 11 goals was second best in the conference, just one behind the RSEQ leader. Belzile was a member of the league’s 2017 all-rookie team.
