Football to host Breast Cancer Awareness game

Head coach Brad Collinson and the Concordia Stingers football team are pleased to announce this Saturday’s clash with the McGill Redmen will be dedicated to promoting Breast Cancer Awareness.

The Stingers will add a touch of pink to their game day uniforms to remind fans that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Members of the team will also collect donations for the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation.

“It’s not uncommon to see football players wearing pink items in October,” said Collinson. “The leadership on this team wants to make sure our athletes and the public realize it’s more than a fashion statement. We want to help everyone understand breast cancer is a serious disease that affects thousands of people and families.”

Approximately 6000 Quebec women and 25,000 Canadian women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. More and more men are also being diagnosed with breast cancer.

“We hope to educate ourselves and others,” said Stinger veteran linebacker Jordan Chin. “If we can get even a few people to donate a couple of dollars or visit the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation website, then it will be a good day.”
