Women's rugby trio earns RSEQ all-star honours

Three members of the Concordia Stingers were named to the women’s rugby all-star teams selected the by the conference’s coaches and announced by the RSEQ today.

Fourth-year scrum half Lia Hoyte was the lone Stingers named to the first all-star team. The Gatineau, Que. native scored one try and was named the game MVP three times in seven regular season games.

Centre Jasmine Baxter of Ajax, Ont. was acknowledged for her outstanding rookie season with a second team all-star honour. She was one of two players tied for the scoring lead on the Stingers. She scored seven tries and connected on two converts for 39 points in five games.

Second-year forward Shawna Brayton was also a second team all-star. The Châteauguay, Que. resident was a key scorer with five tries and seven converts for 39 points.
