Concordia Stingers head coach Kevin Figsby is pleased to announce the captains of the 2013-14 men’s hockey team.
Veteran fifth-year centre George Lovatsis will wear the C for the Stingers. The alternate captains are a younger group – third-year centre Kyle Armstrong, second-year left wing Olivier Hinse, second-year defenceman Youssef Kabbaj and second-year right wing Jessyco Bernard.
“George is our only fifth-year player and has been an alternate for the past two years, he was the obvious choice,” said Figsby.
“From our young players last year, a number of athletes demonstrated great leadership qualities,” he added. “They were the players who worked the hardest on and off the ice and have proven to be extremely dedicated to the program.”
Figsby will work with the leadership group on a number of planning aspects for the program. He says it’s important to have the leadership group involved in several areas, including recruiting.
With strong young leadership and an extensive arena renovation project under way, Figsby feels his team is one step closer to realizing its long-term goal of winning a national championship.
