Mukiya Post named CIS Male Athlete of the Week

Mukiya Post of the Concordia Stingers men’s basketball team was exceptional in two games last week and his efforts were recognized by the CIS who named him Male Athlete of the Week.

Post, a fourth-year history student from Victoria, scored a remarkable 73 points in two games to lead the Stingers (8-6) to a pair of hard-fought wins over the UQAM Citadins, 88-87, and the Laval Rouge et Or, 77-73.

Last Thursday against UQAM, the six-foot-three forward tallied seven rebounds and 33 points in 32 minutes on the court, including 18 in the fourth quarter alone, and hit a clutch three-point basket with 34 seconds left in regulation to tie the affair at 87-87.

He was once again at his best when it counted the most on Saturday as he scored 26 of his career-high 40 points in the second half to lift Concordia over the Rouge et Or and into a tie for second place in the RSEQ. He also hauled in 11 rebounds.

In the two games, he made 14 of 15 free throws (93.3 %) and seven of 11 three-pointers (63.6 %).

The Stingers wrap up the RSEQ regular season by hosting the McGill Redmen at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The women’s team will battle the Martlets at 2 p.m.
