Barrett, Roy-Viau on RSEQ honor roll

Two of the Concordia Stingers most accomplished basketball players were recognized by the RSEQ women’s conference when it announced its all-star teams this afternoon.

Kaylah Barrett, a fourth-year guard from Brampton, Ont., was named to the first all-star team for the fourth consecutive time.

This season she was the top scorer in the Quebec conference, averaging 13.3 points a game. She was also the leader in steals per game with a 3.5 average.

Barrett is one of the most decorated female athletes in Concordia’s history. She was the league’s MVP and a CIS all-Canadian in 2012 and 2013.

Marilyse Roy-Viau, a second-year forward from Mirabel, Que., makes her second appearance on the RSEQ’s second all-star team. She scored an average of 11.5 points a game which leaves her in sixth place in league scoring. She also averaged 5.4 rebounds and 2.5 steals a game.

She continues to build on her success from 2012-13 when she was named to the RSEQ and CIS all rookie teams.
