All-Canadian Kayla Barrett makes basketball history

Kaylah Barrett, a fourth-year guard, has become the first Stinger in Concordia University basketball history to earn three all-Canadian honors.

She was named to the CIS second all-Canadian team at a ceremony in Windsor, Ont. last night. She was a first team all-Canadian in 2012 and 2013.

The Brampton, Ont. native was also named to the RSEQ first all-star team for the fourth consecutive time last month.

This season she was the top scorer in the Quebec conference, averaging 13.3 points a game. She was also the leader in steals per game with a 3.5 average.

Carol-Anne Tull is the only other women’s basketball player to earn more than one national honor. She has two all-Canadians to her credit from her playing days in 1999 and 2000.

On the men’s side, there are several players who have made the honor roll twice, including Damian Buckley (2008 and 2009) and Pat Perrotte (2006 and 2007), but no one with three.
