Stingers add more talent to football roster

Head coach Mickey Donovan and his staff are pleased to announce the addition of three accomplished football players to the Concordia Stingers program.

Slotback Alexis Bailey from Collège André Grasset, cornerback Connor O’Brien, who transfers home from St. Lawrence University, and running back Simon Chang from Kent Prep School will be in training camp in August.

Bailey is a top receiver from the Quebec cégep division 2 ranks. In three seasons, the Montrealer caught 53 passes for 809 yards and six touchdowns. The six-foot-two, 180-pound athlete was a member of two championship teams with André Grasset (2011 and 2012).

O’Brien, a native of Westmount, Que., checks in at six feet, 190 pounds. He played football at Selwyn House School, St. Paul’s School in Concord, N.H. and St. Lawrence in Canton, N.Y. With the latter, he suited up in 2012 and 2013. He recorded 28 solo tackles, 17 assists, eight breakups and two interceptions over two seasons. Last season he earned Liberty League second team all-conference honors.

Chang is originally from Yellowknife, N.W.T., but attended classes at St. Michael’s College School in Toronto. He travelled south to pursue his passion for hockey, but quickly excelled as a member of the school football team. He moved to Kent Prep School for the 2013 season and was a rare post-grad player –the first Canadian in more than 30 years to be accepted to post-grad football at Kent.

The running back stands five foot eight and weighs 190 pounds. He is exceptionally devoted to training. His max bench press is 355 pounds, while his max squat is 495 pounds.
