Alex Tessier of the women's rugby team and Kris Robertson of the football team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 21.
Tessier, a second-year centre, was instrumental in helping the Stingers defeat the Sherbrooke Vert & Or 64-7 on Sunday. The victory gives Concordia a perfect 4-0 win-loss record in Quebec conference play. Tessier scored a try and connected on seven converts. She was selected the game MVP.
A 21-year-old native of Sainte Clotilde de Horton, Que., Tessier studies in the Math and Stats program at Concordia.
Robertson, a fifth-year halfback, was a key player defensively in Concordia’s 29-22 victory over the Sherbrooke Vert & Or last Friday night.
He picked up two interceptions, including one he returned 64 yards for a touchdown. He added 5.5 tackles and broke up two passes. He was named the RSEQ Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.
The 23-year-old student from Pickering is enrolled in the Sociology program at Concordia.
