2024 Skills and Development Program for Adults
The Concordia women’s hockey team is pleased to offer its Stingers Academy skills program this summer.
This fun and engaging package offers weekly skill sessions ending with one game. It's dedicated to helping adults (women and men) of beginner and intermediate skill levels improve their play.
Academy staffed by Concordia Stingers women's hockey coaches and players.
TWO SESSIONS:
Session 1: June 18 to Aug. 13. Tuesdays, 8:40-10 p.m.
Session 2: June 20 to Aug. 15. Thursdays, 7-8:30 p.m.
OBJECTIVE:
Regardless of your current skills set, you can participate. Our program’s mission is to develop individual skills and tactics.
FEATURES:
- We focus on the most important aspect in hockey: skating technique.
- Participants will work on balance, stance, edges, agility, power, transitions and efficiency.
- We also concentrate on puck skills including stick handling, dekes and deceptive moves.
- Through station work, participants will work on passing, shooting and puck protection.
- We incorporate small space competitive games in our sessions.
- A goalie coach will be present at each session.
- If you bring a positive attitude and a great work ethic, then you will get better.
COST:
$299 plus taxes per session for skaters. $150 plus taxes per session for goalies.
All Participants will receive an academy jersey and two tickets to a Stingers regular season home game.
COACHES:
- Head coach of the 2022 and 2024 U Sports National Champion Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team
- 2024 U Sports Coach of the Year
- Retired U.S. national team player who won four Olympic medals and six Women’s World Championships
- Recipient of the 2007 Patty Kazmaier Award as the top university women’s hockey player in the NCAA
- Graduated from Harvard University in 2007
- 2024 Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee
- Associate head coach of the 2022 and 2024 U Sports National Champion Concordia Stingers women’s hockey team
- Retired Canadian national team player who won four Olympic gold medals and six Women’s World Championships
- Current assistant coach for Hockey Canada’s women’s national team
- Graduated from University of Minnesota Duluth in 2005
