When talking to a student reporter Bill Doherty, head coach of the 1980-81 Concordia Stingers women's hockey team, said he'd "rarely see a team as dedicated and harmonious as this one."

The 1980-81 Concordia Stingers women's hockey team was made up of 14 veterans and six promising rookies. The team was often described as a hard working team. One newspaper article noted the Stingers "outshot, out skated, out hustled and outdid" an opponent. In this case the McGill Martlets and the score was 14-0.

In addition to 12 conference games, Concordia played an extensive exhibition schedule. They defeated Saint Mary's to win the University of New Brunswick tournament, the Stingers won the consolation game at the York tournament and they finished third at their own prestigious invitational tournament.

On Feb. 20, 1981, the Stingers defeated the John Abbott Islanders 5-0 which gave them a perfect 12-0 record in the QWIHL regular season.
