Tamara Medwidsky was Concordia University's first female wrestler, a challenge she embraced and approached with a fierce intensity and an unwavering commitment.
She arrived in Montreal in 1998 with very little wrestling experience, and started training six days a week with the Stingers. She quickly established herself as a serious athlete intent on leaving her mark on Canadian wrestling.
The Toronto native represented the Stingers at three Canadian university wrestling championships winning gold medals in 1998 and 2000. She was a silver medallist in 2001. Medwidsky was Concordia's Female Athlete of the Year in 2000 and its outstanding Academic Athlete in 2001.
Medwidsky competed in several Canadian Senior Wrestling Championships earning a spot on the podium in each. She was a gold medallist in 1998 and won silver medals in 1999 and 2003. In 1998 she also represented Canada at the senior world championships in Poland, placing seventh.
At Concordia, Medwidsky earned a Graduate Diploma in Sports Administration and an MBA before establishing a respected career in her field of study.
