Corinne Swirsky

Inducted in 2001 as an Athlete
Institution: Concordia
Graduated in 2000
Corinne Swirsky was one of the most
accomplished student-athletes in the history of the Canadian Interuniversity
Athletic Union. In five years as a right wing with the Concordia Stingers women's hockey team, she won every
national, conference and university honor possible.
In 1998 and 1999, Swirsky was nominated for the prestigious Howard Mackie
Award, which is presented annually to the outstanding athletes in the CIAU. She
won the award in 1999. Swirsky was presented the Brodrick Trophy as the CIAU's outstanding women's hockey player in 1998, 1999 and
2000. She was also the Quebec conference's
Most Valuable Player and a first team all-star in each of the three years.
Swirsky was the Concordia Female Athlete of the Year from 1997 to 1999.
An intense athlete, she's best
remembered for her ability to excel in critical situations, the look in her eye
and a hunger that only the great achievers possess. Her desire and talent made
her the driving force behind Concordia's
national championship victories in 1998 and 1999, as well as a bronze medal in
2000.
During her university career, she played on the national under-22 team and the
Quebec senior team. She was also the recipient of a Petro Canada Torch Bursary.
Swirsky has also been inducted as a member of the 1995-96 Concordia Women's Hockey Team.
